A fantastic location in a well-connected district

Cherwell District Council has recently moved into modern, purpose-built offices at Castle Quay in the heart of Banbury town centre.

The council is currently based at 39 Castle Quay, Banbury, OX16 5FD, with easy commuter access via train, bus, car or walking/cycling routes.

This bold relocation brings us closer to the communities we serve, supports local regeneration and our ambitious vision for the town, and reflects our forward-looking spirit. The district itself offers so much to enjoy. It has a unique mix of character and opportunity.

From the historic market town of Banbury, with its famous Banbury Cross and canal heritage, to the thriving hub of Bicester and the welcoming community of Kidlington, Cherwell combines lively urban centres with picturesque villages and rolling countryside.

Banbury continues to evolve, with new investment reshaping the town centre and canalside. Lock 29 is now a go-to destination for food, drink, and independent shopping, while The Light brings new leisure and entertainment to the town in the form of restaurants, cinema, bowling, and more.

Bicester offers a different energy. Renowned for Bicester Village, one of the UK’s top retail destinations, it is also home to Bicester Motion. This pioneering campus has transformed a former RAF base into a centre of technology and heritage motoring. Cherwell is also proud to host Graven Hill, the UK’s largest self-build housing development, which continues to change the way people think about homes and communities and demonstrates the council’s bold approach to growth.

Beyond the towns, Cherwell is home to beautiful countryside, historic landmarks, and excellent connections. With the Cotswolds and Blenheim Palace on the doorstep, and Oxford, Birmingham, and London within easy reach by road and rail, the area offers both charm and connectivity.

This distinctive blend of history, continued progress, and community makes Cherwell a truly special place to live, work, and explore.

This is a council driven by ambition, working for a district full of opportunity. You can join to help shape Cherwell's future.
